a new year with many plans // 2016

"You can't plow a field simply by turning it over in your mind."
- Gordon B. Hinckley

Two thousand and fifteen was a wonderful year for us. We celebrated our third wedding anniversary, purchased our forever home, celebrated family members buying homes and welcomed a new addition to our family, Bowen. As we moved into our home in March, spring was a huge surprise for us, seeing all of our leaves and vegetation grow in. We didn't fully know what to expect with the property. There was just as much change on the outside, as with the inside of Gable Oaks. We completed major renovations that took up most of our time for eight full months. Literally every day after work and every weekend.  After they were complete it felt so strange to sit down and relax and enjoy our winter off. We have two years of renovations left in our plan for Gable Oaks and thankfully they won't be anything close to as strenuous as this year.

Our plans for twenty sixteen will start off with wiring in ceiling lights into our other three bedrooms, as they are currently absent. Two out of four bedrooms to not have any heat ducts run to them. Mitch will be running a boiler system and piping into two of those rooms so we can install white old fashioned radiators along the walls. I'm honestly a bit jealous our master won't have one, but our guests and future children will be happy! Radiant heat is my favourite.

Our laundry room, upstairs hallway and bedroom currently have drop ceiling. The rest of the house is finished with either plaster or drywall. We will be installing drywall ceilings to our laundry room and hall and white tongue and groove to our master bedroom. We are going to be installing hardwood floor to our bedroom as well.

Lastly for this year, we will be making our attic efficient. Our attic is in excellent shape but has no insulation. We will be putting in insulation as well as whirly birds for ventilation.

We are excited to get back to the drawing board and begin this March!

winter before christmas // 2015

"Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring not even a mouse. The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there."
