main floor laundry & bathroom renovation

"One thing is for sure, this house has lots of love and laundry"

Our main renovations begin late spring and go over the summer. We were so happy to have accomplished SO much last year. We were very excited after the living room was complete to enjoy our "off season" in our home and have more time for friends and family! We didn't really do anything to the home over the fall and winter. After the new year, Mitch started to get a bit antsy so we decided to start getting rid of some of the drop ceiling in the home. It is in the main floor laundry room, the upstairs hall and our bedroom. We are installing a dry wall ceiling in our bedroom this summer and the hall will have to wait for now.

After removing the drop ceiling, Mitch framed the room as the ceiling was lifting about a foot in height. After that, he installed dry wall, mudded and sanded, and then put up the barn board. The barn board came with the home stacked in our shed. It is all original to the home's barn and age. We are happy to incorporate it back into the home.
I then primed and painted the room, finished off with crown moulding and a simple light fixture.

The first three photos in this post are from the listing and are the "before" photos. I didn't take any of the ceiling unfortunately, which is the main task we took on in this room. It was essentially a drop ceiling with a large plastic insert for the light above to shine through. The last task for this room in the future will be to install a proper tile floor. A huge thank you goes out to my husband for taking on this Pinterest dream!

A big thanks also goes out to a great carpenter friend for his skills and knowledge in helping us get started as well as installing the crown moulding.
